20th November 2017Exciting new independent café lounge bar opening in the heart of the city
21st November 2017The Seaton Care Home, part of independent care provider Southern Healthcare, announces the launch of its contemporary-style coffee shop named Gasson’s. Named after the home’s maintenance man Bryan Gasson, who worked incredibly hard to construct the new space, the caf will serve specialist roasted coffee blends, hot chocolate and other barista-style beverages, along with freshly baked treats prepared in-house.
On launch day, entertainment was provided by friends of the care home Val, Phil and Cedric who serenaded staff, residents and guests with singing, and playing ukulele and the harmonica. This connection came about when the father of one of the trio, resided at The Seaton. After he sadly passed away they continued to join the care home, singing and performing, and were keen to be part of the celebrations.
Located in the heart of the care home, Gasson’s is the perfect place for residents to socialise in a comfortable and relaxed environment. The Seaton offers a secure and accessible indoor, and outdoor space for guests and residents to share quality time together, and the new coffee hub complements the recently refurbished courtyard, officially opened in the summer on ‘National Care Home Open Day’.
Southern Healthcare with four care homes in Devon, embraces the philosophy that residents do not have to leave their life at the door, when entering one of their homes. The team, therefore, work hard to create a ‘home from home’ environment for both residents and visitors alike.
Emma Seal, Home Manager – The Seaton Care Home said: “Being part of the local community contributes greatly to our ethos of bringing the outside in, and our fantastic new facility is part of this ongoing programme. Gasson’s coffee shop has a cosy, safe and comforting feel, that is easily accessible to all of our residents’ needs. It’s a place where their loved ones, as well as members of the community, can come together and experience social interactions that are authentic.”
