16th July 2019Couples Come Dine With Me incoming to Exeter!
26th July 2019Established in Exeter in 1884, local property experts and chartered surveyors, Whitton & Laing celebrated their 135thanniversary with an official event held at The Stand Off, located in Longbrook Street. Partners and staff welcomed over 100 guests, made up of clients, fellow professionals, consultants and friends of the business who enjoyed an evening of networking, drinks and great pub-grub to mark the significant business milestone.
Wanting to give back to the local community, and in honour of The Stand Off’s co-owners, former international rugby stars Carl Rimmer and Steeno, Whitton & Laing raised monies for ‘The Exeter Foundation’, the Exeter Chiefs official charity. Associate Partner, Symon Garratt acted as auctioneer for nine lots of great prizes generously given by businesses in and around the city, plus kind donations from clients and suppliers . A monetary gift from the Whitton & Laing partners helped top up the monies which raised a total of 1500.
One of the longest-established property firms in Devon, Whitton & Laing was established in the same year as the much beloved British blue-chip company Marks & Spencer. With offices in Exeter and Exmouth, the dedicated team of 45 staff offer estate agency, lettings, surveys and valuations and project management, and the firm is one of the largest block management companies in the south west.
David Gibson Partner (Sales) – Whitton & Laing said:“People who select Whitton & Laing are choosing us because of our level of knowhow that spans an extensive and diverse range of skills, honed since 1884, meaning we have the wherewithal to handle almost any property-related matter imaginable. We’re in a ‘people’ business and we take time to talk to our clients in order to fully understand their needs, look after them well and offer a very personal and friendly service in order to do the best we can for them.”
He adds: “In our 135-year history we have seen many challenges including wars; national strikes; property market booms and crashes, and yet we are still here not just surviving but thriving! The challenges we all face today are very different, ranging from cybercrime, anti-money laundering and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), numerous changes in legislation and the tenant fee ban- the list goes on and on. But perhaps the biggest challenge we face is ‘technology’ and how we can harness it to enable us to keep looking after our clients to the very best of our ability. By continuing to work with good, honest, local independent professionals, many of whom helped us celebrate our 135thanniversary in style, we’re able to achieve this. To this day, Whitton & Laing is still an independent firm with a family ethos, and we shall be here for many more years to come.”
