Charity barn dance filling boots

300 people braved thunderous downpours and blocked drains in the lanes around Yarnscombe and at Bowling Green Farm where Bideford Rotary Club’s Barn Dance was on Saturday warmly welcomed by Rotarian John Edwards and wife Sue.

The drive was worth it for the fabulous venue beautifully decorated with real hay bales to sit on, and the wonderful hot buffet! The Bloater Town Band, sponsored by Haines Watts South West kept toes tapping and everyone, dancing around the barn until well after midnight. President of Bideford Rotary Club, Jacquie Willoughby, said “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of North Devon who donated raffle and auction prizes and then dug deep to buy raffle tickets and bid on items at the charity auction – Thank you all!”

Emma Perry, Senior Fundraiser – Little Bridge House said: “It’s an absolutely incredible donation, we are so pleased with the efforts of everyone involved. The money raised will refurbish and upgrade our very special, Starborn room and will make a considerable difference to us and our families staying at Little Bridge. We can’t thank the Rotary Club enough.”

An amazing £7000 was raised for Children’s Hospice South West on the night, when combined with a donation from Bideford’s twin Rotary club in Uelzen, Germany and matched by a Rotary International grant, it is hoped the Rotary Club of Bideford will enable a major development project at Little Bridge House worth £30,000 this year.
