Constructing Excellence South West (CESW) announces the appointment of Exeter-based businessman David Greensmith, as the new chair of CESW Sustainability Forum. CESW is the single cross sector, cross supply chain organisation charged with driving the change agenda in construction within the south west region, forming part of the Constructing Excellence Regional Partnership (CERP). They exist to improve industry performance to produce a better built environment. The ‘jewel in the crown’ is the ‘Adopt a School’ campaign, with 44 active partnerships of construction related companies, and their local schools all looking to promote construction as a career of choice, and improving its image at the same time.

Under the direction and leadership of Chief Executive Andrew Carpenter and CESW Chair, Emma Osmundsen, CESW has grown to over 1000 active members throughout nine ‘Best Practice Clubs’ and nine ‘Thought Leadership Forums’, of which the ‘Sustainability Forum’ is the latest.

Andrew Carpenter CEO, CESW said: “CESW’s renewed focus of sharing, influencing and networking, support the ambitions of our themes, clubs and forums and the positive impact being made is tangible. The triple header of environmental, economic and social sustainability is central to our core values, and we’re very excited to have added a sustainability forum. He adds: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Greensmith as the new chair of the CESW sustainability group. With over 45 years’ experience in engineering and construction, a specialist knowledge in technology and energy, combined with his diverse portfolio of clients as Business & Operations Director of leading local PR consultancy Glen King PR, David fully supports the aims and ambitions of the sustainability forum.”

David Greensmith chair of CESW comments: “I am very excited about my new role – a rewarding challenge with great opportunities, and we have already started the sustainability journey. This includes even greater sharing, with aligned partnerships with a series of ambitious themes focused on challenging issues. Working as part of a wider group with greater networking with our peers, creates greater influencing, and we are having quarterly meetings, and issued a draft white paper on future energy scenarios, together with a planned conference and dinner in late 2018.”
