8th February 2017LAUNCH OF NEW SOUTH WEST CHARITY NETWORK PROVES A RESOUNDING SUCCESS:
Wealth Management Company, Brewin Dolphin Exeter, launched the first of a new series of South West Charity networking events. The inaugural event attracted over 60 guests from the charity sector including trustees, fundraisers, and executives as well as local professionals who travelled from as far away as Cornwall. Guests were welcomed with wine and canaps and an open address by Jon Crompton and Kelly Harkins who make-up the Brewin Dolphin South West Charity team. This was followed by a topical update from Tony Cockayne from Michelmores Solicitors.
The aim of the network is to offer a platform to regularly bring charity professionals, trustees, fundraisers and executives together from across the South West to network, exchange ideas and share experiences. They will also receive training on issues specific to the sector and receive updates on developments in charity legislation.
Brewin Dolphin Divisional Director, Jon Crompton – Head of Charities – South & South West said:
“We were absolutely delighted with the attendance and positive feedback from our inaugural event. The purpose of holding these quarterly events is to bring local charities together under one roof to share information and offer updates on developments in the charity world. The successful launch was well received and the next one is planned for April. He adds: “My colleague Kelly has been instrumental in setting up the network together with the LinkedIn group which allows members to post updates and share experiences in this specialised sector. Brewin Dolphin is also offering trustee training sessions covering a variety of topics later in the year. We will cover investment risk, trustee duties; investing for the first time; ethical investing and investment policy statements; as well as more bespoke topics as required.”
