As part of the ‘Hospiscare Coffee Morning’ campaign, the team of Exeter- based Glen King PR welcomed clients, associates, as well as family and friends to a special ‘Tea at 3’ event, with popular broadcaster, Judi Spiers and her famous sidekick Gus Honeybun. Judi is an Ambassador of Hospiscare and was supported by Mercedes Benz Exeter, who kindly provided a top of the range car sign-written with the Hospiscare Coffee Morning to promote her tour around Devon eating a lot of cake to help raise vital funds and awareness for the charity.
Hospiscare is a local charity, delivering specialist palliative care, easing pain for people with terminal illnesses and providing emotional and social support to their loved ones. Working across Exeter, mid and east Devon, the charity cares for patients who are terminally ill and is there to help people make the most of their lives despite the limited time they have left. The charity takes care of people across Exeter, East and Mid Devon, with all their services being free of charge to patients. The annual costs amount to over 6 million, of which Hospiscare need to raise 5million from voluntary donations – that’s over 13,000 per day!
A tempting array of delicious homemade cakes were available at the Glen King PR city-centre based office at Hampton House, for a recommended donation of 5, which automatically entered guests into a charity prize draw. Fabulous prizes were generously donated by local businesses; including: Trugs, Lloyd’s Kitchen, Gerry Cottle Circus, Purity Spa, expert bakers ‘Little Bear Bakes Cakes’ and Exeter Chief, and the event raised over 200 for this very worthy local cause.

We were delighted with the support from the local business community and the GKPR team, and many others turned their hands to baking for this event. As a result, there were a number of cakes left over, but they didn’t go to waste; the surplus were cakes were delivered to St. David’s Church ‘soup kitchen’ and also the YMCA – who would have thought that three very worthy local charities would benefit just from putting the kettle on!
