20th July 2018Lloyd’s Lounge, – Caf Bar is the place to see and be seen; and since opening six-months ago, is proving to be a popular venue for dining and cocktails…
In the hustle and bustle of Exeter’s City Centre you’ll find an oasis of peace and calm at Lloyd’s Lounge, which opened its doors on 1st December last year. Owned by well-known local restaurateur Lloyd Gardner who also has award-winning Lloyd’s Kitchen, the stylish caf lounge bar has proved popular with locals and visitors alike. Sitting centre-stage on a raised piazza in the hub of prestigious Princesshay shopping centre overlooking the historic ruins of Catherine’s Chapel and Almshouses, Lloyd’s Lounge oozes luxury and style with a contemporary interior design, offering a chilled and friendly atmosphere to meet and socialise with friends, family and work colleagues.
The impressive all-weather glass structure recently won a prestigious award at ‘Michelmores’ Property Awards’, and the intimate bar accommodates 36 covers with further external seating for 60 more on the terrace. If you can’t quite make-up your mind whether to dine inside or out, Lloyd’s Lounge offers the best of both worlds – sleek, contemporary glass panels slide open, allowing customers to spill onto the outdoor terrace, and this alfresco area has the added bonus of being dog-friendly.
A daily breakfast and lunch menu is available with the option of a popular two-course set lunch at just 11.95. Keeping it local, Lloyd’s only use Exeter suppliers, sourcing its fresh fish from ‘Fishes’, meat from high-quality butcher ‘Gibbon’s Quality Meats’, and freshly-picked fruit and veg from Darts Farm.
Why not make the most of the lighter evenings by relaxing on the terrace with a refreshing glass of gin & tonic from Salcombe or Exeter Gin. And getting you into the holiday mood, an expert mixologist is on-hand to make you a tantalizing cocktail, with the main focus on The Speakeasy tradition of creating infusions. Popular summertime classics at Lloyd’s include Mojitos and Pimm’s, garnished with freshly picked mint grown on the premises.
Relax with a tempting selection of tapas, served on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays throughout the summer. And make sure you ask about Lloyd’s summer sizzler offers including a complementary ‘Pay-day Barbeque’ with drinks purchased between 4pm & 7pm every Thursday (terms apply).
You know summers truly arrived when the nation is gripped by tennis fever with the start of Wimbledon. Synonymous with strawberries and cream, last year’s championships saw a staggering 34,000 kg (166,000 servings) of English strawberries consumed. So it’s ‘game, set and match’ at Lloyd’s Lounge who are celebrating this quintessential English pastime by making the most of their alfresco dining area and creating an eye-catching terrace with tennis rackets and artificial grass.
Enjoy a taste of Cornwall with a sumptuous scoop of the famous luxury Kelly’s ice-cream served straight from Lloyd’s Lounge’s traditional ice cream cart, nestled under a protective awning and available to passing. The delicious range of flavours, all made with authentic Cornish clotted cream, using locally sourced milk, include: tutti frutti; vanilla; Eaton Mess; triple chocolate; toffee fudge; salted caramel and cookies & cream. To get you in the mood for Wimbledon, and keep you cool, Lloyd’s Lounge is offering customers a complimentary strawberries and cream ice-cream throughout the month of July to redeem with the purchase of a main meal or set lunch.
